Quiet Mind - Open Heart - Peaceful Life
Qigong Teacher Peter Caughey
talks about this course
The Ba Duan Jin Qigong System
The Ba Duan Jin (8 treasures or eight silk brocade) is one of the oldest known recorded forms of Qigong and it has a total of 8 movements.
It was primarily designed to be a form of medical Qigong to repair injuries and improve overall health. It was also used as part of the training regime in some martial arts.
Each movement has a medical application and stimulates all the meridians to free the body of tension, blockages and illness.
It is an extremely powerful set giving you a greater sense of your own energy and the ability to use the vital life force energy to heal yourself and others.
The exercises increase flexibility, suppleness of the spine and repairs damage caused by excessive emotions.

Peter Caughey
Peter Caughey is the founder of Forest Rock Qigong, and is a Qigong and Taiji Quan Master and a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Acupuncturist, Chinese Medical Herbalist and a Medical Qigong and Tuina Practitioner. He is a published author, and has over 30 years of experience in the TCM, Taiji and Qigong field.
"My mission is to help people discover the true essence of who they are and to live their life with abundant freedom."
Peter is the last known teacher of the 真璊道太極拳自我防衛指導所 Zan Gei Dou Taai Gik Kyun Zi Ngo Fong Wai Zi Dou So (Cantonese) or Zhēn Ji Dào Tài Jí Quán Zì Wǒ Fáng Wèi Zhǐ Dǎo Suǒ (Mandarin) Monastery School.
This is a private, monastery-school lineage originating from a southern Chinese monastery tradition. The lineage is closed and exclusive, emphasizing preservation of its purity rather than widespread dissemination. It is not documented in major historical records as it is a family/monastery-specific transmission. It is preserved and taught primarily through Peter, who is based in Bali, Indonesia, and is the lineage holder of this specific transmission.
The teachings draw from this lineage’s philosophy, focusing on The Seven Aspects, The 10 Principles, and The Three Applications, which focus on the regulation of life force (Qi) physically, mentally, and spiritually.
- The body is seen as an intelligent, holistic system
- Internal harmony is created using Yin-Yang & Taiji Quan principles
- It is an experiential transmission (beyond words, through practice and embodiment)
- It focuses on balance, harmony, vitality, health, and spiritual fulfillment
Peter’s goal is to bring the understanding of TCM and Qigong to the Western world.
